Karthika Masam 2020: Nakshatra Full Day Seva

The month of Karthika falls under the Dakshinayana period and is regarded as highly auspicious for performing Sadhana. This period is significant in Hindu culture since it is the time when the year moves into the ‘Kaivalya Pada’. The Sadhanas pada is the period associated with reaping the rewards of your actions, i.e. what you sow, you shall reap. Performing Sadhana offers an incredible opportunity to delve into your inner consciousness and benefit from the good actions you have committed. Karthika month is also called the ‘Damodar’ month and considered as a great time for the welfare of mankind, since it glorifies both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.

Special Instructions for Sponsorship Orders

Before each homam or puja is performed in Amma's Lalita Temple, a "sankalpa" is recited in Sanskrit, a divinely powerful language. Sankalpa is a special process involving Vedic incantations that energetically connect you and your family directly to any ritual. Amma assures us that when we are included in a sankalpa, we become spiritually connected to the power of the divine ceremony and receive its full benefits immediately, just as if we were physically present.

In the section before below, please enter the name and nakshatra of the primary person for whom the puja is being sponsored. This name will be recited during the sankalpa.  If you don't know the gotra it's fine to leave this blank.

ONLY If the prasadam shipping address is different from the billing address, please complete the field below. Please be aware that it may take several weeks to receive your prasadam, since it is being mailed from India during Covid-19 restrictions.

A gotra is a lineage, akin to a family name, but the given name of a family is often different from its gotra, and may reflect the traditional occupation, place of residence or other important family characteristic rather than the lineage.
According to Vedic Astrology, Nakshatra refers to the stars/constellations. The 360⁰ zodiac system is divided into 12 zodiac signs. There is a total of 27 Nakshatras in astrology, and hence the value of each star is 13⁰ 20’. In ancient times, Nakshatras are considered as a means of worshipping the divine. These 27 constellations are based on the movement of the Moon, which travels approximately 27.3 days around its orbit. Hence, the birth star of an individual is calculated based on the position of the Moon in any of these stars.
