Ruby – Sri Koorma

Sri Ruby Sri Koorma

In Sanātana Dharma, the Divine is invoked not only in temples but also through sacred forms (murthis) that devotees lovingly install on their personal altars. When these murthis are sculpted in gemstones or metals, they radiate the combined energy of the deity’s blessings and the natural vibration of the material itself.

Amma Sri Karunamayi often reminds us:“The Divine Mother resides wherever She is invoked with love. When you keep Her murthi in your home, it becomes a temple. When you keep Her in your heart, you become the temple.”

Spiritual Significance

Ruby, the gemstone of the Sun (Surya), symbolizes radiance, strength, and vitality. When sculpted as Sri Koorma, it unites stability with brilliance, guiding the devotee to shine in both worldly and spiritual life.

Sanskrit verse: Adityaaya Cha Somaya Mangalaya Budhaya Cha, Guru Shukra Shani Chha Ravi Nakshtro Suraaya Namah — Salutations to the navagrahaas, the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury,Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu.

Importance of Ruby – Ruby energizes the Manipura (solar plexus chakra), strengthening willpower and discipline. It ignites the inner fire of tapas (spiritual effort) and dispels fear. Ruby Sri Koorma → Courage, radiance, spiritual fire, prosperity.

Benefits & Spiritual Upliftment

  • Builds courage and determination for higher sadhanas
  • Burns away lethargy and awakens dynamic energy
  • Attracts prosperity, leadership, and recognition
  • Protects against negativity and misfortune

Guidelines for Altar Placement

  • Place the murthi on a clean, elevated altar, ideally on a copper or brass plate.
  • Offer daily light (deepam), incense, and flowers.
  • Recite mantras:  Sri Koorma → “Om Kurmaya Namah”
  • Meditate daily in front of the murthi, visualizing its radiance filling the home.
  • Keep the altar space free from clutter, maintaining sacredness.

Amma often says: “The Sun does not ask for worship; it simply shines. In the same way, the ruby murthi of Vishnu Koorma radiates protection and brilliance without asking.”
