Sri Penusila Narasimha Swamy Ashtothara Puja

Amma's chanting of Narasimha Gayatri and her 16 sacred offerings (in Sanskrit) with the 108 sacred praises of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha is a divine blessing in itself. Very close to Amma's Ashram in the holy town of Penusila, there is a svayambu (self-born) Narasimha Swamy murti, adjacent to which is the Adi Lakshmi temple. Lord Vishnu incarnated as Lord Narasimha in the half-lion and half-man form in order to suppress the pride and ego of King Hiranyakashipu, who harassed people to worship him instead of God. The king was taught a lesson by his own son, Prahalad, who worshipped Lord Vishnu all the time. His tyranny was brought to an end by Lord Narasimha.
