In Sri Vidya, this is not just a sacred symbol. It is revered as the geometric form of the Divine Mother Herself - Sri Lalita Tripurasundari, Rajarajeshwari.
What the Sri Chakra represents – At the very center is the Bindu - Para Shakti / Para Brahman, the ultimate source from which creation emerges and into which it ultimately dissolves.
Around the Bindu are nine interpenetrating triangles:
Five downward-facing triangles – represent Shakti - Divine Creative Power
Four upward-facing triangles – represent Shiva - Pure Consciousness
Their union forms 43 smaller triangles, symbolizing how the cosmos manifests from the One Divine Reality. This union teaches us something beautiful - that Consciousness and Divine Energy are inseparable, and that the universe, the individual soul, and the Divine Mother are ultimately expressions of the same Reality.
The Nine Avaranas - an inward journey
The complete Sri Chakra has nine sacred enclosures, the Navavaranas. In worship we move symbolically from the outermost enclosure toward the Bindu.
This is the spiritual journey itself - from identification with the external world toward the Divine within. Traditionally the enclosures evoke fulfillment, auspiciousness, accomplishment, protection, removal of affliction, spiritual attainment, and finally at the Bindu, Sarvanandamaya - the state of all-encompassing bliss.
So wearing it is not just about asking for blessings. It is a gentle, constant reminder of the Divine Mother dwelling at the center of our own being.
The Sri Chakra is most closely associated with Sri Lalita Tripurasundari, and the auspiciousness of "Sri" also connects it with Mahalakshmi and abundance.
Traditionally, it is associated with auspiciousness, grace, prosperity and spiritual abundance, protection and removal of obstacles, harmony and inner balance, clarity and concentration, fulfillment of righteous intentions, spiritual awakening, and ultimately moksha or Self-realization.
These are traditional devotional beliefs, not scientifically demonstrated effects of the physical pendant itself. Its deepest significance comes through bhakti, mantra, contemplation, disciplined living, and the grace of the Divine Mother - not simply by possessing the object.
Is it auspicious to wear? – Yes, it can be worn reverentially as a symbol and reminder of Devi. If this pendant has been energized / consecrated, blessed by Amma, received as prasadam, please treat it with even greater reverence than ordinary jewelry and follow whatever Amma has given
For everyday wearing you do not need elaborate Sri Vidya rituals. You can simply hold it respectfully before wearing and offer in your heart: Amma, may this Sri Chakra always remind me of Your presence within me. May my thoughts, words and actions be guided by You.
A very Powerful yet a simple mantra to chant is: ॐ श्री मात्रे नमः — Om Sri Matre Namah — Salutations to the Divine Mother. You may chant it 9, 27 or 108 times, or simply when you put the pendant on.
Lalita Sahasranama, Lalita Trishati and Soundarya Lahari are especially close to Sri Chakra devotion, and even keeping the pendant before you while reciting them can be a beautiful practice.
How to care for it: Treat it as sacred.Keep it clean, avoid deliberately placing it on the floor or in unclean places, and when you are not wearing it, keep it in a clean cloth, jewelry box, altar or puja area.
The most important meaning – There are two ways to see the Sri Chakra.
That is why Sri Chakra is so extraordinary in Sri Vidya: Devi is not merely somewhere inside the yantra. The entire Sri Chakra - the center, the triangles, the lotuses, the outer world, and ultimately the worshipper - is understood as Her own manifestation.
So its highest power is not merely attracting wealth or good fortune. Its deepest blessing is this remembrance:
Everything arises from the Divine Mother, everything exists within Her, and everything ultimately returns to Her.
